2018 Building Momentum Campaign
Over the past few months, Northwest Association for Blind Athletes has been building momentum for a new adventure in the Northwest. This summer we are thrilled to continue with Camp Abilities Oregon and to introduce our second camp, Camp Abilities Washington. Until now, Camp Abilities Oregon has been the only sports camp in the Northwest for youth who are visually impaired at no cost to their families.
To make this possible, we need your support! Join us in this unprecedented adventure as we expand Camp Abilities so that it is more accessible to individuals like Eli whose family traveled 900 miles last year in the span of a week to ensure he could go to camp.

“Camp is so valuable for Eli, and our family is incredibly grateful to have a program like this for him. Eli doesn’t get much time to spend with other kids with visual impairments…Camp has allowed Eli to gain confidence and realize that even though something seems impossible, if it’s a new sport or navigating a new environment or cooking a meal, it is achievable” – Libby, Eli’s mom.
Join us in making camp possible for 80 children and youth, like Eli, this summer by making a gift today. Our goal is to raise $75,000, by June 30th and we need your support!
Will you consider making a generous gift to NWABA?
What is Camp Abilities?
Both Camp Abilities Oregon and Washington are weeklong developmental sports summer camps for 80 youth who are visually impaired or blind. Camp Abilities isn’t just a sports camp, the purpose is to empower children and youth with visual impairments to build confidence, be welcomed into a community of peers who understand each other’s daily challenges, and develop advocacy and mobility skills to gain a greater sense of independence in everyday life.
