David Brown Appointed to Northwest Association for Blind Athletes Board of Directors
Vancouver, Washington—October 20th, 2016—Northwest Association for Blind Athletes announced today David Brown has been appointed to the organization’s Board of Directors. Brown comes to NWABA’s board recently retired from Nike Inc. He worked for Nike for over thirty years in a number of leadership positions, most recently as VP of Global Merchandising for Brand Jordan. Brown has also been an active volunteer in the Portland community for several years.
“As I have been involved in athletics my entire life, I found an organization that not only allowed me to continue with my passion of working with athletes but give back to these athletes and the community to help create life changing experiences.” said Brown.
Brown will join other community leaders throughout the region in helping Northwest Association for Blind Athletes achieving its mission of providing life-changing opportunities through sports and physical activity to individuals who are blind and visually impaired.
About NWABA:
The mission of Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) is to provide life-changing opportunities through sports and physical activity to individuals who are blind and visually impaired. The Association was formed by a group of visually impaired students in 2007 to ensure that people who are blind were participating in sports and physical activity. Today, NWABA is a rapidly expanding charitable organization that provides more than 1,300 children, youth, adults and military veterans with visual impairments tailored programming which improves self-confidence and self-esteem, promotes independence, creates an inclusive community of supporters, and builds the skills necessary to succeed in all areas of life including school and employment.
