Northwest Association for Blind Athletes and Oregon Blind & Visually Impaired Student Fund to host 2016 Paralympic Experience in Salem, OR
Vancouver, Washington—October 10th, 2016—The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) announced today that it will be hosting a 2016 Paralympic Experience in Salem, OR in conjunction with the Blind and Visually Impaired Student Fund (BVIS). The event is scheduled for Friday, October 21st at the Sparks Center located on Willamette University’s campus (900 State St, Salem OR 97301). Check in is from 8:30 to 9:00 am. The event will go from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. It is open to all K-12 students with visual impairments across Oregon.
“We are extremely excited to continue to deliver this life-changing opportunity to children and youth with visual impairments throughout Oregon. This year’s Paralympic Experience will introduce students to several different sports, give them the opportunity to learn more about the Paralympic games, and meet Paralympians that were once in their shoes. As one of our largest program events we hold throughout the year, the BVIS Paralympic Experience changes the lives of many.” said Founder & Executive Director Billy Henry
The event will provide K-12 students with visual impairments an opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals and skills to participate in Goalball (a sport specifically designed for individuals who are blind and visually impaired), track and field, beep kickball, and Judo.
