Northwest Association for Blind Athletes to host June 2013 United States Association of Blind Athletes National Goalball Championships
Vancouver, Washington—March 6TH, 2012—The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) announced today that the organization has partnered with the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) to host the 2013 National Goalball Championships in Vancouver, Washington from June 20th-23rd.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring this phenomenal sport to Vancouver. Men’s and Women’s teams will be traveling to Washington from across the United States to compete for the National championship,“ said Billy Henry, NWABA Executive Director.
Goalball is a Paralympic sport played by individuals who are blind and visually impaired. Developed after WWII as a way to keep blinded veterans physically active, it has become the premiere team game for blind athletes. Played competitively by men and women, it is a very fast paced, physically challenging, strategic and overall an exciting game to watch.

VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON SELECTED AS 2013 USABA GOALBALL
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SITE
(Colorado Springs, Colorado) The United States Association of Blind Athletes is excited to announce the Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) and Vancouver, Washington are selected to host the 2013 USABA Goalball National Championship Tournament, June 20-23, 2012.
“Over the past couple of years, NWABA and other organizations have worked hard to make the Pacific Northwest our hotbed for growth in goalball,” says USABA’s Goalball Coordinator, John Potts. “We’ve seen new several goalball teams from California, Washington and Oregon compete in our national goalball program and we’re aware of several additional teams being formed that we hope we’ll soon see in tournaments. The fact they were selected as the 2013 USABA Goalball National Championship Tournament site is a testimony to the hard work that has led to the success of goalball in this region.”
The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) provides life-changing sports and fitness programs for individuals of all ages and ability levels who are blind and visually impaired. They provide programming throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.
