Sports Teams
Community. Independence. Confidence.
NWABA supports various sports teams throughout the region that practice weekly and compete in local, regional, and national competitions.
Dragon Boating
NWABA supports two dragon boating teams, Team VIP and Lethally Blind. Both teams practice on Portland’s Willamette River. Team Lethally Blind competes exclusively at the Portland Rose Festival in June of every year. Team VIP practices multiple times per week and competes in races throughout the year.
Goalball
Goalball is a sport that was invented specifically for people who are visually impaired. NWABA supports Team Avalanche that has both a Men’s and Women’s team. Athletes practice weekly to train for tournaments. NWABA also co-hosts the South Sound Throwdown Goalball Tournament every year. This tournament attracts many teams from across the United States and Canada to compete in the Pacific Northwest.
