Spring is here and growth is all around; not only for the organization itself but also our athletes, who have grown with us. Now as NWABA reaches its 16th year, we’ve watched our youth athletes grow into adulthood, and learn to engage in different sports and recreational activities, increase self-esteem, improve their orientation and mobility skills, and develop life-long friendships. We’ve seen growth in the amount of programs NWABA offers, the number of athletes served, and the expansion of more areas reached.
To celebrate this growth and keep the momentum going we have several events happening this first week of May.
Idaho Gives – May 1-4
Idaho Gives is a state-wide program designed to bring the state together to raise money and awareness for Idaho nonprofit organizations. As most of you know, we opened an office in Boise last fall, and the growth and support we’ve seen in Idaho is incredible. This program will support our summer programming in Idaho. To participate in Idaho Gives, visit www.nwaba.org/idahogives.
GiveBIG Washington – May 2-3
Previously known as Give More 24, GiveBIG is a state-wide giving program supporting nonprofit organizations throughout Washington. GiveBIG will support our Camp Spark athletes who live in Washington. Due to a reduction in state funding, it’s even more important to reach our goal, so we can continue to ensure there is no cost for our athletes or their families. Early giving is happening now, so don’t wait. Visit www.nwaba.org/givebig.
16th Anniversary Giving Day & Basketball Game – May 5
Northwest Association for Blind Athletes is turning Sweet Sixteen! Is there a better reason to celebrate by supporting NWABA’s Sports Outreach summer programs in Washington and Oregon? Give a gift on May 5th by visiting www.nwaba.org/sweet16.
But wait, the party’s not over yet. Join us in celebration of NWABA’s anniversary at our own Sweet 16 basketball game, as the Vancouver Volcanoes play the Salem Capitols at Clark College’s O’Connell Sports Center (1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver) at 7:00 pm. 50% of all ticket and raffle sales will benefit NWABA. Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased online here, using the coupon code NWABA. And thanks to a generous sponsorship from Café Yumm!, the first 100 people through the gate will receive a free Yum Bowl. Invite friends and family. We’d love to see you there.
