This summer, Camp Spark shined brighter than ever. Across multiple sessions, campers, families, and staff came together to celebrate milestones, build confidence, and create memories that will last a lifetime. From our biggest groups yet to our 10-year anniversary, 2025 was a season of joy, growth, and community.
Summer 2025 kicked off with a bang as 27 enthusiastic campers joined our dedicated team of counselors, orientation and mobility specialists, sport specialists, nurses, and camp directors for a week packed with action. Campers took on tandem biking, track and field, swimming, and goalball. The week culminated in a thrilling goalball tournament, where our two teams, the Tumalos and the Hozomeens, showcased their skills in front of families and friends.
But Camp Spark is about more than sports—it’s about connection. As one young camper, Christina, reflected: “I feel happy to be at a camp where people have the same disability and experience the world like me. I look forward to coming to camp again next year so I can meet more people who see differently like me.”
These bonds remind campers that they are not alone and that their experiences are shared and valued. Her words capture what makes Camp Spark special: a community where campers feel seen, supported, and inspired to return year after year.
This summer also marked a major milestone—10 years of Camp Spark! Our longest-running session welcomed 23 campers, many of whom have been with us since they were just 8 years old. Over the years, campers have returned summer after summer, creating a lasting legacy that nourishes growth and confidence in every participant. Together, we celebrated a decade of memories, growth, and lifelong friendships.
Campers like Kiley showed us just how powerful that growth can be: “I see myself more confident and independent. I now feel comfortable traveling by myself. I also feel more confident walking alone. I am also now able to find and receive things and ask for help confidently and independently.”
This kind of growth builds year after year and shows the powerful impact Camp Spark has on every camper’s journey. The week concluded with a surprise BBQ and carnival night, a joyful celebration that honored the past decade and set the stage for the future. With 10 years behind us, we can’t wait to see what the next decade will bring—before we know it, we’ll be celebrating 20 years of Camp Spark!
Though one of the newest sessions, Session 7 has quickly become a highlight of summer—and 2025 was our biggest yet, with 16 campers (nearly triple from its first year in 2021). This week is as meaningful for parents as it is for campers. Parents enjoy the gift of true respite, knowing their children are in a fully accessible, fun-filled, and supportive environment.
As one parent, whose daughters have attended since the very first Session 7, shared: “It feels weird to say but I don’t miss my daughters when they are at camp. I missed them the first year but now I know they are having a great time and are well cared for. I love that they can still come for 5 more years!”
Meanwhile, campers dove into afternoons of swimming, games like bocce and yard farkle, tandem biking, and even a talent show—where an incredible 93% of campers took the stage this year! The week ended in a lively bowling tournament and closing ceremonies, the perfect celebration of new friendships and achievements.
From the laughter of talent shows to the quiet moments of confidence gained, Summer 2025 was a season of growth, joy, and connection. With record numbers of campers, milestone anniversaries, and the bonds that keep our community coming back year after year, Camp Spark continues to shine as a beacon of empowerment and belonging.
We can’t wait to see what Summer 2026 will bring!
