Help Provide Nutritious Meals and Snacks for our Athletes
Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to support causes that are closest to your heart and we hope you will consider supporting Northwest Association for Blind Athletes. The dollars raised during this day of giving will provide food support to athletes who participate in our programs & services.
Food insecurity is a significant challenge faced by many of the athletes served by the NWABA. Many of our participants come from low-income households where consistent access to nutritious meals is not always guaranteed. This challenge is particularly pronounced among our youth athletes, who rely on regular and balanced meals for their physical development and overall well-being.

NWABA annually hosts seven sessions of a residential camp – Camp Spark. Camp Spark helps youth (ages 8-15) living with visual disabilities overcome barriers faced and ensure success for every new and returning camper. Activities include adaptive sports, physical activities, cleaning, cooking, team building, talent shows, and more.
At Camp Spark, we ensure that every camper receives three nutritious meals and snacks each day. This commitment to providing consistent, balanced nutrition allows our athletes to fully engage in the camp’s physical activities without the distraction or limitation of hunger.
For many of our campers, this experience is a stark contrast to their daily lives, where food insecurity can be a constant concern. In some Camp Spark sessions, we take this a step further by involving the campers in meal preparation, teaching them essential cooking skills and reinforcing the importance of healthy eating. This firsthand experience empowers campers with the knowledge and confidence to make better food choices long after camp has ended.
NWABA hosts a series of sports and physical activities annually through our Sports Outreach program. When we provide food at these events, we see a noticeable increase in turnout and participation. For many of our athletes, knowing that a meal will be provided removes a significant barrier to attendance, allowing them to focus on enjoying the physical activities and the camaraderie that comes with being part of a supportive community. By addressing food insecurity within our programs, NWABA is not only promoting physical health but also fostering a more inclusive environment where all athletes have the opportunity to thrive.
Offers children, youth and young adults who are blind and visually impaired a unique opportunity to participate in a weeklong developmental sports camp.
Uses sports and physical activity as a vehicle to provide opportunities for individuals who are blind and visually impaired to build self-esteem, independence, and community among their peers.
Without our volunteers, we would not be able to serve as many people as we do.
NWABA offers many ways for you to make a profound impact on individuals of all ages and abilities, who are blind or visually impaired.
